This is one spell-binding, informative graphic novel. It’s a historical fiction piece that the author loosely based on the story of her mother. It’s set in France during the Nazi invasion in World War II. The main character, Rachel, is later christened Catherine to disguise her Jewish heritage. Catherine enjoys taking pictures and captures much of her journey towards freedom on her camera. First, she stays at a boarding school, but Germans soldiers visit the school. Catherine along with a few other Jewish students immediately leave and are sent by the Resistance forces to a safer location. However, these locations just are not safe enough, and Catherine keeps moving around southern France trying to find safety.
